A pattern and/or fingerprint unlock should be a feature for status. It will increase adoption as accessing the app wont be such a pain, especially for those who like to use long passwords. I would prefer this over extending login periods which would decrease security.
If a service like Wechat allows for password unlock of their native wallet, it should be fine for the status app as well.
