As mentioned at the offsite, Mozilla recently dropped IRC and is looking for a replacement to improve teams communications.
They announced the following shortlist a week ago
- Mattermost
- Matrix/RIOT
- Rocket.Chat
- Slack
They disqualified:
- Zulip, Gitter, Spectrum due to Identity&Access Management issues
- Discord due to privacy concerns and interop issues
- Telegram due to not being good for work
- IRCv3 due to not being there
Interestingly they didn’t consider Twist.
