I don’t know if it’s within the scope of this article, or reserved for a future “Two Point Oh: Sharding”, but an interesting aspect of the validation process is dealing with transactions that involve multiple shards - e.g.: sending ether from an account on one shard to another account on another shard - or conflicts resulting from parallel transactions in different shards.
