Status Desktop 2.31 fails to start on Ubuntu 24.10

I just downloaded the fresh Status Desktop 2.31 AppImage and am sorry to report that it fails on boot.

Here is the log output:

Is appears to be some issue with the QML initialization.

Googling found me this, which looks possible. Though there are several other QML warnings before that.

PS.

I have 2.30 on the same computer and it does not hit these same QML issues, but that also is not a happy application. I’ve been unable to sync with my mobile app, and was hoping 2.31 would get me past this!

Hi @bobsummerwill , thanks for your detailed report!

Status 2.31 is close to the release date, but it’s still in the release candidate phase and, therefore, buggy. I don’t recommend you use 2.31 for day-to-day use yet.

Please hold tight for the 2.31 official release for Linux. This new version has ironed out many errors.~

Status 2.31-beta is now available.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

Hi @bobsummerwill! Do you have FLAG_CONNECTOR_ENABLED or FLAG_DAPPS_ENABLED environment variable set? If you do, this might cause the failure. Removing the env variables could fix this issue.

This issue has been confirmed on Fedora as well.
The good news is that only one build configuration is affected. Until we fix it you can use this app image StatusIm-Desktop-v2.31.1-a322b9-x86_64.tar.gz found in the releases page.

UPD: we updated the links on the website as well so linux is pointing to correct build config now
